Scenes from the Rail - Offshore Overnight

Presented by Grundens

Thirty-six hours in the canyons aboard a party boat.

The crew eagerly awaits boarding time for a 36-hour offshore adventure.

Sleeping bags and coolers littered the parking lot as anglers waited to board the Helen-H.

The waiting is the hardest part.

Last call for boarding.

Mates chop up the sardines and ready the chum before the boat leaves the dock.

…and sleep…

and eat some more.

Rigged and ready.

A mahi becomes the first resident of the fish box after only a few minutes of trolling. He’d be lonely in there for a few hours.

Anglers watch the spread dilligently, waiting for a big bite before sundown.

Sunset on the edge.

Anglers stayed at the rail all night, but other than a swordfish drive by and a couple small dolphin, nothing showed.

No tuna all night, but the crew remained hopeful for the morning troll.

I bought a membership many weeks ago. I have not received my gear yet. Please look into this.

That must have been a long 36 hours with only a few fish coming to the rail

  4. Chester Makowski

I have fished the Helen H may times for Tuna and Swordfish with my son Chester, and on the lightest trip we each had 2 Yellow and 1 Sword, and the best trip was a 3 Day trip with 6 Yellow and 15 Mahi for me and 8 Yellow and 12 Mahi and 1 small sword for my son, and Matt can remember that night well as I had also a very large sword that took me around the full boat 4 time for 3 hours then loosing it passing the pole under both anchors, what a fight but still a great trip.
