C-MAP Featured Hotspot: Fishtails

When warm Gulf Stream water moves into Fishtails, it’s a hotspot for yellowfin tuna, bigeye tuna, mahi-mahi, and white and blue marlin.

Fishtails, also known as Block Canyon, is a popular offshore spot about 70 miles south of Montauk Point. It’s within reach of offshore anglers from Connecticut, Rhode Island, Long Island and southeastern Massachusetts.

Trolling is a popular tactic in Fishtails, but chunking at night, and at times during the day, is very productive as well, especially with yellowfin tuna.
