Tell NY How to Manage the Striped Bass Fishery

The NY DEC launched a new online survey to gain public opinion on several options developed by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) to address striped bass overfishing.

DEC’s Striped Bass Fishing Survey allows anglers to select the preferred ASMFC striped bass management options and provide suggestions for developing commercial and recreational regulations for the 2020 fishing season. The survey is accessible through Monday, October 28, 2019.

one trophy tag per year 50+” ($50).
    20″-28″ slot for keepers. 2 bass/person/day limit.
Make Striped Bass a game fish and find funding to ease “True commercial” fishermen off income from increased cost of saltwater license for limited years.

  2. Angelo scalici

One fish per person at 36″ and fines need to be doubled for recreational fisherman and tripled for commercial fisherman

  3. Lyndon

Educate anglers on determining the male from female. Harvest only the male stripe bass

  4. DjL

Make a slot fish like they did down south for redfish. It worked for greatly restoring redfish stock

  5. Ethan Liebler

Have a slot of one fish between 26 and 34 inches,
possibly educate on males only for one large fish above 34
