Shenango River Lake
Anglers are catching several species of panfish, but the cold water is keeping them at bay. A reminder that Shenango River Lake is now designated as a Panfish Enhancement Lake. Crappie must be nine inches to harvest, and the creel limit is 20.
The Shenango fish consumption advisory is still in effect until further notice.
The last of the trout stocking has been completed for the county. There are still lots of opportunities to get out there and catch some trout!
Southern Lancaster County
Susquehanna River – Lake Aldred Advisory: Boaters and shoreline anglers are made aware that Brookfield Renewable is planning a Lake Aldred drawdown May17th-20th. The drawdown is being conducted in order to facilitate repair and replacement of the Holtwood Dam’s flashboards which sustained damage as a result of high river flows. The river level will come down to between 163.5 – 164.5, which is three to four feet lower than Lake Aldred’s recreation season lake level of 167.5.
Boaters are forewarned to maintain a proper lookout at all times with strict adherence to Pennsylvania boating laws and regulations. This work is contingent on river flows and may be postponed.

The Conestoga River is a good three-and-a-half-hour kayak float starting from Fisher Park in Brownstown down to Perelman Park in Manheim Township. Besides a good float for kayaks there are great fishing opportunities for small mouth bass.
