Long Island – New York Fishing Forecast – February 2021

Fishing around the island is pretty with the cold temperatures and skim ice. Fishermen are curing their cabin fever in tidal creeks, where white perch can be caught, and on the trout rivers, like the Connetquot. Headboats are also sailing, with boats like the Laura Lee fishing the offshore wrecks for cod, ling, and a mix of other species. Out east, the Viking Fleet continues to catch cod when the weather allows, which hasn’t been too often.

Fortunately, February is the shortest month, and the fishing is sure to improve in a few weeks, for freshwater, cod, and even stripers.
