Capitol Tackle reports this past Saturday on the Capitol Princess the bite started off slow but boy did it turn on by the end of the day. They had many fish weighing over 5lbs, but the biggest tog caught for the day was a monster weighing in at 12.4lbs. The boat is still sailing on the weekends and you can book your reservations online.
Stella Maris Bait and Tackle reports, there has been some really good blackfishing when the boats are able to make it out. On the local piers the herring fishing has been good. Some anglers are reporting that the mackerel are starting to show up and the shop wouldn’t be surprised if more show up any day now. They are still getting reports of schoolie bass off the beaches and jetties. The season closes for striped bass on Saturday and then it will be catch and release only.
River Bay Outfitters reports, a bunch of his regulars are heading up to Connecticut and doing well with the trout. Locally Paul said, the Connetquot is still producing fish as long as the weather doesn’t keep anglers at home. Massapequa pond is also producing some trout on the fly rod and should continue to do so until the pond starts to freeze.
White Water Outfitter reports, anglers have been sailing to the deep water wrecks out of Shinnecock and catching jumbo seabass. There have been reports of some nice blackfish mixed in the these seabass as well. They said many of their regulars have headed out to Montauk on the head boats and catching haddock and cod.

Fishing Forecast for Long Island
This weekend does not look the best as far as the weather and marine forecast. Once we see some better weather there is still some fishing options out there. Local piers and docks should see more and more herring and mackerel show up. On the boats the deep water wrecks are producing cod, haddock, and big seabass. Blackfish is already closed on the north shore and will close along the south shore on the 22nd. Fishing has been good for tog along the south shore so try to get out before the season is over. This is also a good time of year to head to a local shop and get your rods and reels serviced. It is good to get it out of the way now, then to wait for the season to be here and not be ready for it. I hope everyone has a great weekend and good luck out on the water.
