How many times have you landed a fish and heard, “Where are my pliers!”?
One thing you’ll never find aboard a boat is an angler who feels they have enough storage. For many fishermen, the extent of their fishing tackle storage is a tangled mess of hooks, leaders, lures and tools shoved into a tackle locker, or worse, a five-gallon bucket.
Every boat should have a well-organized tackle storage system that meets the particular needs of its owner and suits their style of fishing. With many pre-made configurations available, purchasing and installing a brand-new storage unit is a great option for any boater looking to improve and upgrade their vessel.
“We’ve prototyped high-quality storage units for over 200 different boat builders,” explains Andrew Brown of BoatOutfitters.com. “That means there’s a good chance we have a selection of units pre-engineered for your specific boat model.”

These standard-size fishing-tackle storage systems range from large leaning post tackle units to small built-in tackle lockers and offer a wide range of options that can meet the needs of a wide range of anglers, explains Brown. Some of the most popular options for these systems include Plano tackle trays, drawers, leader holders, and lure bags.

If you can’t find an exact match to the space you’re trying fit, don’t fret, says Brown. Small tweaks—such as an inch off the height or a small change to depth—can be done with a minimal charge, so boat owners can avoid the high cost of fully-custom work.

Of course, for those fishermen who have a unique need or non-standard space to fill, a totally custom storage system is another option. However, considerable costs in terms of time and craftsmanship go into designing and building a custom product, making them more expensive than pre-made units, explains Brown.
Still, for fishermen who understand the importance of being organized, any investment in a system for neatly storing tools and tackle is worth it.
“Our customers spend hours on the water and small fortunes on gas to chase fish. For them, an organized tackle station is worth the price if it ensures that they won’t show up to the party unprepared.”

“WHERE ARE MY PLIERS”
Love it and been there. Great ideas on organization.
For pliers I now use the 2 sets of pliers rule.
1. On my belt attached with landard never detaches.
2. In plaine sight on boat. (This pair comes in very handy for your buddie who always rembers to bring coffe for one but not much else)

WHAT IS WEIGHT OF THAT TAKLE BOX ,IT IS MADE OF STEEL OR PLASTIC. AND HOT MUCH THE PRIZE,
Hey Ramon,
You’ll have to clarify for me which tackle box above your inquiring about regarding weight.
The primary material we use is King Starboard which is a HDPE plastic.
Great article.. I’ve actually googled “tackle storage” a dozen times to find semi-custom solutions for my 20 ft CC (with limited options). Boat manufacturers are finding design space to make every new CC family friendly, and install heads and walk-in consoles (which are great)… but how about some standard tackle drawers or plano racks

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for the feedback and catalog requests.
We actually do not have a print catalog. Believe it or not we prototype upwards of 15 new products per day (generally for the boat builders) and many of these parts are then added to the Boat Outfitters site. Because our catalog grows so quickly, it is not practical to invest in a print catalog.
Fortunately, everything is available on our website – http://www.BoatOutfitters.com
Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions. We look forward to the opportunity to build parts for your boat!
