St. Croix Mojo Inshore Series Redesigned with Northeast Fishermen in Mind
St. Croix is giving a whole new look and feel to their Mojo Inshore line for 2021.

St. Croix is giving a whole new look and feel to their Mojo Inshore line for 2021. We had early access to the rods this spring, in order to film the video below, and they have become staples aboard the OTW Regulator. We’ve used them to live-line bunker for stripers, bounce jigs and drag rigs fluke, work topwaters for bass and blues, and fill the cooler with a limit of sea bass.
The re-engineered Mojo Inshore Series begins with an upgraded SCIII carbon blank, which is lighter, more sensitive, and more responsive than its predecessor. The rod is built with Sea Guide Hero Hi-Grade guides with slim aluminum oxide rings for minimum weight and maximum durability. The Fuji DPS Deluxe reel seat on spinning models and ECS and TCS Deluxe reel seats on conventional models.
The hybrid cork-and-EVA handles on the medium-heavy, heavy, and extra-heavy power rods were a direct response to the feedback of fishermen looking for more comfort and durability in the rod handle. The tougher EVA is positioned where the rod contacts a rod holder, to keep the grip intact for many seasons of use.
With 27 models that range in length from 6’6” to 7’11” and feature light to extra-heavy powers with moderate, moderate-fast and fast actions, there’s a rod for just about all of the most popular fishing applications in the Northeast. Below are just a few of the models for targeting our local species. (Find a full list of all 27 models at the bottom of the page.)
For live-lining big baits like bunker, the JIC711HMF, 7’11” heavy power, moderate-fast action conventional, JIC79XHMF 7’9” extra-heavy power, moderate-fast action conventional, and JIS79XHMF 7’9” extra-heavy power, moderate-fast action spinning rods are perfect, have no problem pitching large baitfish and stopping heavy bass. The 7’9” extra-heavy, moderate-fast conventional (JIC79XHMF) and spinning (JIS79XHMF) models were also designed to handle 2- to 6-ounce lures, including large metal-lip swimmers and swim shads.
The JIS711HF 7’11” heavy power, fast action spinning rod casts big topwaters, like pencil poppers and walk-the-dog plugs a long way into shoreline structure, and gets them working quickly, while maintaining the power to steer a striper away from the rocks.
Look to the JIS76MF 7’6” medium power, fast action spinning rod to launch light lures for false albacore and schoolies.
With the sensitivity to feel a tautog scratching at a crab bait and the backbone to lift it away from the wreck, the JIC79XHMF 7’9” extra-heavy power, moderate-fast action conventional has what it takes. Also, look to this rod for three-waying live baits or bucktails to big bass hanging in deep-water rips.
For backwater fishing, whether for school stripers, weakfish, or fluke, the JIS70LF and JIS70MLF 7’0” light and medium-light power, fast action spinning rods are perfect for walking small topwaters, soft-plastics, or jigs in shallow water.
In addition to all the great new features on the Mojo Inshore series, the rod maintains one of it’s most attractive features, it’s price range of $160 to $230, depending on the model. Available October 2020.
