Potential NJ State Record Blackfish Landed

On Friday, April 17, angler Frank LaMorte caught a 25.37-pound blackfish on Capt. Tom Daffin’s Fishin’ Fever IV, reported on the Fishin’ Fever Sportfishing Facebook page.

If the catch is certified, it would top the current NJ state record blackfish (and former world record) of 25 pounds caught by Anthony Monica. Monica’s fish has stood since 1998 and was the world record until Kenneth Westerfeld landed a 28-pound, 8-ounce fish in Maryland in January 2015.

What bait do you use to catch the black fish and what area was it.
