New AFTCO Rescue Performance Gear utilizes ECONYL® Fabrics to Create Clothing Made of Recycled Fishing Nets
AAFTCO is committed to reducing reliance on single-use plastics and prioritizing recycled and more sustainable materials while relying on human and product innovation. This means integrating sustainability into the manufacturing processes, products, packaging, and day-to-day operations.
ECONYL® is regenerated nylon made from new and recycled Nylon 6 waste material such as fabric scraps, decommissioned fishing nets and other waste materials. Normally, nylon has a significantly detrimental impact on the environment but utilizing ECONYL® recycled base materials can help reduce the effects utilizing less water in the manufacturing process, and ultimately generating less waste in the end.
The AFTCO Rescue Lightweight Hoodie is built with a combination of ECONYL® regenerated nylon, recycled polyester, and spandex resulting in an ultra-comfortable sun shirt with UPF 50. The lightweight, moisture-wicking fabric dries quickly and incorporates DWR stain resistance. Other features include a discreet zippered storage pocket and thumb holes at the sleeves for full coverage.
The AFTCO Rescue Fishing Shorts are part of an all-new capsule of technical fishing clothing made from ECONYL® regenerated nylon, a unique fabric spun from ocean and landfill waste including decommissioned fishing nets, industrial plastics, and fabric scraps. During a time when more and more single use plastic ends up in the ocean, clothing such as the rescue fishing shorts pave the way showing that quality fishing and lifestyle clothing can be made with regenerated materials.
The Rescue shorts sport a 4-way stretch, DWR stain resistant base with a reinforced plier pocket. Vertical zippered pocket keep valuables secure and will be a perfect addition if you are a kayak angler looking to have access to your pocket
