Officer on patrol located a trash bag containing 8 striped bass.
The Massachusetts Environmental Police responded to a complaint regarding a group of individuals possibly poaching striped bass along the Cape Cod Canal and hiding the catch in a vehicle near the railroad bridge parking area in Buzzards Bay.
Officers issued nearly $2,500 in fines and seized 15 illegally caught striped bass.
On Sunday, August 4, 2019, Massachusetts Environmental Police Officers conducted uniformed and plain-clothes patrols of the Cape Cod Canal area.
The three individuals were charged and issued notices to appear in court.
The vessel yielded 300 pounds of jumbo black sea bass, 73 pounds of large black sea bass, one short black sea bass, and 7 pounds of scup.
The illegal catch was donated to the New Bedford Salvation Army.
A total of 332-pounds of striped bass were seized and subsequently donated to the New Bedford-area Salvation Army.
