On October 16, 2016, Val Percuoco of Leominster landed the new Massachusetts Record for White Perch!
Val caught the 3 lb. 8 oz. White Perch out of the Wachusett Reservoir, breaking the previous state record from 1994 by 3 oz. It was 18 inches long and had a girth of 13.5 inches.
Anglers who believe they have broken a state record must present their fish in its entirety (whole) to a fisheries biologist at MassWildlife Field Headquarters in Westborough or at any of the five MassWildlife District offices.
MassWildlife’s Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program recognizes anglers who catch exceptional freshwater fish from waterbodies of the Commonwealth that are open to the public. The Sportfishing Awards Program has both “catch and keep” and “catch and release” categories.
