A captain in Ocean City, MD attached a GoPro video camera to a ballyhoo dredge to film just what was going on beneath his trolling spread. I’m sure there’s a few lessons about how fish behave in the spread to be gleaned from this footage.
Here I sit in my ergonomic chair looking at the computer screen on strike, hands twitching, waiting for the screaming reel to sing.
Sensational, the marlin in the closing sequence looked like he was wondering why the bait wasn’t scattering, drops back comes up for another look, no response so he looses interest. I love the way the tuna just rocket in and as soon as one strikes it triggers the competitive feeding frenzy. You can see why switch baiting is so successful. Thanks for the buzz.
[…] inshore for roosterfish and snapper or head offshore for tuna, sailfish, and a possible shot at a marlin. Hmmm…. tough choices! We all figured that the tuna would be waiting for us later in the day, […]
Excellent. Great behavior video.
Wow , if a captain could get that feed in the wheelhouse they would lose their mind.
Truly incredible use of the GoPro… Almost eerie to watch, but very fascinating!
Wow – awesome.
Wish we had GoPro and got shots like that when we were filming our shows.
Nice work Capt-
Find myself – with the Stripey- ” he is still there…- etc. Etc.
