Cape Cod Captain Lands Record Tuna on Spinning Gear

On The Water contributor Captain Bobby Rice of Reel Deal Charters landed a 423-pound bluefin tuna on Friday, one of the largest ever caught on a spinning rod and reel.  The massive fish hit a Point Jude Deep Force lure and took an hour to land, with the entire crew on board sharing in the battle.

    That isn’t even close to record size on spinning gear. A Shimano America product manager caught a 1000 lb Bluefin last month on the Shimano SW Stella spining reel.

    Me and my buddies, Tom and Jerry were out with u Monday, got skunked on the tuna but made up for it on the striped bass, so jealous. Great job on landing a big one!
