Black Marlin on a Jig

Speed Jigging is most definitely the craze that “all the kids are into” these days. With more anglers sending jigs to the deep, species that have only before been caught on trolling or heavy chunking tackle are now being tangled with on specialized jigging gear. Last year, anglers jigging aboard New Jersey Party Boats hooked a couple swordfish on jigging gear, and just this morning I got to the office and had an email from Panama Sportfishing Lodge with a link to a video of an angler fighting an estimated 400-pound black marlin that ate a jig (see below). Though the rod and reel were certainly up to the task, it seems like the hook was not.
