117-pound Wahoo a Potential New York Record

On Friday, August 16th, Jonathan Stabe out of Star Island Marina in Montauk caught a 117-pound, 7-ounce Wahoo to potentially set the New York state record. Fishing aboard Tonto near Fish Tails Canyon, Stabe had an excellent day, catching a yellowfin, eight longfin albacore, a bigeye, two mahi mahi, and two white marlin releases in addition to the massive Wahoo, which measured in at 77 inches long and a 34.5-inch girth.

Anglers tend to yell “whaoo!” when one of those fish hooks up — for this one, I’m sure Jon yelled “WAHOOOOO!!!”

Nice goin’ guys — I keep my boat @ Star Island, too.
